Poison

Poison

Hatred is probably the easiest emotion to draw out of a person at any given moment, and despite how easily it is mustered its effects are lasting and destructive.  As said by Bruce Marchiano as Jesus in Encounter: Paradise Lost, “Hatred kills more people than heroine every day.”  Hatred is the world’s deadliest poison that we consciously ingest that slowly kills us a little bit at a time.  God made us for love which is why hatred is so destructive to us, it is the exact opposite emotion we were meant to embody.

In Encounter: Paradise Lost David A.R White suffers from the loss of his older sister to a drug overdose; to cope with his pain David embraces an undying hatred for drug dealers as a DEA agent.  At the lowest point in his life, Jesus comes to offer David the only antidote to the world’s most deadly poison, love

When hatred bottles up in our lives and it is eating away at us it’s painful and isolates us from those around us and from God.  However, there is only one thing we can do get rid of hate and receive God’s perfect love, forgive.  Forgiveness releases us from our own hate and restores us to the freedom we have in Jesus.

Is there anyone that you need to forgive?  That question includes you?  The most harmful form of hate is the hate you harbor against yourself.  You have no right to hate yourself for things in the past.  After you give your heart to the Lord you have no right to look at your past since without looking through the eyes of Jesus and the price he paid for you on the cross.
