For example, in the movie "Birthright Outlaw," married couple Martha Rose and Jeremiah Jacobs had to face Martha Rose's secrets and her criminal outlaw past suddenly revealed. Martha has to ask Jeremiah for forgiveness and they have to reconcile with each other in order to fight for their marriage. Will they be able to trust each other again?
Through all the ups and downs in a marriage, the Bible can serve as a great resource and comfort. Here are seven Bible verses about marriage to see you through the good times and the bad.
We see Bible verses about marriage as early as Genesis. The Lord God created a woman from the rib of Adam, after which the Bible states:
“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
God intends married couples to live as one flesh. A man and a woman in a marriage are supposed to compliment each other - their vows have bound them to do life together from thereon out. Let this remind you of the holiness of your marriage in the eyes of the Lord.
“Many claim to have unfailing love, but a faithful person who can find?”
This Bible verse reminds us that anyone can proclaim love and goodness, but not many fulfill their promises. It takes a true “faithful person” to show unfailing love through action. Don’t just proclaim unfailing love, live it.
Jeremiah does this in "Birthright Outlaw." Before Martha's secrets were revealed, his faith had never been tested; he's always been a faith-filled man. When he insists on coming with Martha Rose to rescue their daughter from the hands of her outlaw criminal father, he shows his unfailing love and devotion to his wife and his family through his action. This isn't the only time Jeremiah proves his love for his wife through his actions. When Jeremiah decides to forgive Martha for not telling him the truth in the beginning about her past, he shows her once more what God's unconditional love looks like.
“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.”
The rest of this chapter goes on to describe a “wife of noble character” as one that brings good, works vigorously, opens her arms to the poor, and engages in a number of other noble tasks. As a wife, you may feel that you don’t measure up to this woman. Go to God for help and strength. As a husband, think about what your response should be toward a woman of noble character.

“However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
Love, respect, and commitment are pillars of any healthy marriage. Fulfilling this Bible verse can help you and your spouse maintain a place of mutual happiness.
When we choose to love our spouse, we also are saying that we will love them like we love ourselves. In "Birthright Outlaw," Jeremiah proves that he indeed does love his wife as he loves himself when he decides to forgive her for not telling him about her true identity as an outlaw. Loving ourselves, like God calls us to do, means that we must forgive ourselves as God forgives us, which is exactly what Jeremiah does in this movie.
In Hebrews 13, verses four through seven, the Bible discusses marriage and the honor that should come with it. Verse five states:
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Take the verse to heart. Do not let troubled financial times get in the way of your marriage or your relationship with God. God calls us to find joy in Him, not in money or material possessions. Remind you and your spouse of this whenever issues may arise around the subject of finances.
“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
You may have friends or family members who try to speak into how you and your spouse handle your relationship or your family. But it's important to not let those friends, family, or strangers get in the way of your marital happiness. Your marriage is between you, your spouse, and God. No one else has the power to separate you.
In "Birthright Outlaw" the sheriff of the town of Last Chance tries to prevent Jeremiah and Martha Rose going together to rescue their daughter, Hope, from the gang of outlaws who kidnapped her. Jeremiah pleads with the sheriff to let Martha Rose come with him and the sheriff tries to stand his ground. Jeremiah goes off to pray, seeking God's guidance in what his next should be - which was to go back and get Martha Rose to go with him. Though the sheriff tried to get in their way, Jeremiah knew he and his spouse could not be seperated for the journey.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.”
