The Gaines' efforts are part of "Fixer Upper: Welcome Home," a revived series currently airing on Discovery Plus that picks up where "Fixer Upper" left off.
But rather than renovate a home as is their traditional routine, the couple recently showed up to help a shelter in Waco, Texas, that serves 16 young girls between the ages of 5 to 21, Yahoo! reported.
According to Barbara, who runs this incredible transitional shelter, the home is a place that gives "each girl a chance to succeed." Children stay there as they prepare to enter into more permanent housing solutions.

CBN News has more surrounding the changes the Gaines made:
An important element during the construction included making the common spaces feel warm and inviting.
The living room has plenty of seating for everyone and much of the decor catches the light from outside.
Additionally, the husband and wife team ensured that the activity room was multipurpose so the girls could study, do artwork, or relax. They opened up a wall in the dining room so a large table would fit, allowing all 16 girls to eat together.
In the end, the renovation was a major success. Barbara called it "wonderful" and said that the changes make the shelter feel like a "home."
"It just speaks home. It speaks warmth," she said. "It speaks caring. It speaks perseverance."
Joanna Gaines took to her Instagram account last week to offer her own reflections on the memorable experience.

"So proud of this community of women. This story will always have a special place in our hearts," she wrote. "We believe the girls in this home have the ability to change the world and we will be cheering them on as they go out and do just that."
