While most people spend January recovering from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Jen Lilley is as busy as ever. The actress, who is currently in Uganda to visit Project Orphans, one of her favorite charities, recently celebrated breaking ground on transition homes for the Tulsa Girls Home organization, which she serves as a board member.

“This looks like wreckage, but for me, this is a picture of restoration and hope,” Lilley captioned a picture on Instagram. “It’s a long-time dream that’s actually happening. We’re breaking ground on our Tulsa Girls Home transition homes.”
Tulsa Girls Home “exists to shelter, empower, restore and support teen girls who have been placed in foster care.” Specifically, these transition homes will offer housing and security for girls in the area who have aged out of the foster care system and have no place else to go.
“We are clearing the way for townhomes that will house girls aging out of foster care — giving them the time, support, and structure they need to thrive and break generational cycles,” Tulsa Girls Home explained in their own Instagram post. “We have 1.5 townhomes fully funded — and hope to build 4 townhomes in total. It’s never too late to support the cause and help us give a safe landing for girls who haven’t been adopted and have no place to go after turning 18.”
In a 2022 interview, Lilley called her work helping to establish the Tulsa Girls Home as one of her “greatest achievements.” It’s no surprise considering the “B&B Merry” actress has become well-known for her heart for children over the years, and is passionate about providing loving homes for children in need through fostering and adoption. (She and her husband even ended up adopting the two foster kids that they welcomed into their home!)

It’s also one of the reasons Lilley co-founded Christmas is Not Cancelled in 2020, which partners with charities like Toys for Tots and Childhelp, as well as Tulsa Girls Home and Project Orphans, to spread cheer to children in need all year long—but especially at Christmas. In 2023, fans and supporters gave over $930,000 in impact to the charities, including Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers for the young ladies at Tulsa Girls Home.
“Not everyone’s called to foster. Not everyone’s called to adopt, but everyone is called to do something for these children who are so overlooked and marginalized in our country,” the mom of four explained in 2021.
