Filmmakers have been bringing Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” to the silver screen for nearly a century, but a new adaptation by Great American Family is bound to be one for the books.
Not only will “A Little Women’s Christmas” be a contemporary retelling of the classic story, following Jo March as she returns home to celebrate Christmas with sisters Meg, Beth, and Amy, but it will also feature some of your Great American Pure Flix fan favorites uniting as part of the ensemble cast for the first time ever.
In fact, Jesse Hutch, who plays John Brooke has been giving a behind-the-scenes look at the film on his social media accounts.
“Producing with our company, acting with our friends, our new film ‘A Little Women’s Christmas’ is officially filming,” he posted on Instagram last week alongside Laura Osnes, who plays Beth March. “We have a rocking cast & crew… Coming this holiday season to Great American Family [and] Great American Pure Flix.”
Another post featured various photos and video clips from the week of shooting in Franklin, Tennessee, which is also where Hutch lives with his wife and three children. (His real-life daughter will also be in the film playing his daughter)
In addition to Hutch and Osnes, the film will star Jillian Murray as Jo March, Trevor Donovan as Friedrich “Fritz” Baehr, Jen Lilley as Meg March, and Julia Reilly as Amy March. Gladys Knight also stars and will perform her new original Christmas song, “Joy.”
“‘A Little Women’s Christmas’ is a new Christmas classic in the making, with an incredible ensemble cast and an adaptation of an original story that is one of the best I have read,” said Great American Media president and CEO Bill Abbott. “Louisa May Alcott was intentional about focusing on the culture of young women, their hopes, ambitions, and dreams, and it remains one of the most widely read and beloved stories ever written.”
“A Little Women’s Christmas” is set to release during the fourth annual “Great American Christmas” festivities beginning this fall. To stay up to date on the latest on our Great American Original movies, subscribe to the Great American Pure Flix Insider.
