From heartwarming family stories to exciting dramas to more kids’ content, there’s something for everyone this year on Pure Flix. Let’s take a first look at the newest movies and series coming soon:
When Hope Calls Season 2
“When Hope Calls” is a spinoff of Janette Oke’s legendary book series “When Calls the Heart,” which follows a pair of sisters, Lillian Walsh and Grace Bennett to the town of Brookfield, circa 1916.
“When Hope Calls centers” on the town’s orphanage and its residents who meet tremendous challenges while creating a hopeful, faith-filled community on the cusp of change in the frontier town while nurturing the children in their care.
Season 2 stars Cindy Busby (“Autumn Stables”) as Nora, Christopher Russell (“Peppermint and Postcards,” “A Dash of Christmas”) as Constable, Mountie Michael, Nick Bateman as Wyatt, and Trevor Donovan will be featured in a two-episode story arc.
Karen Kingsbury’s Someone Like You
The film, whose theatrical run grossed $5.9 million at the domestic box office, will stream exclusively on Pure Flix this year. Based on Karen Kingsbury’s book of the same name, it tells the story of Dawson Gage, who loses his best friend in a tragic accident. Now in his heartbreak, Dawson is compelled to launch an impossible search for London’s secret twin sister. Along the way, Dawson falls in love.
“I got to see this movie already and it’s amazing,” noted actor Danica McKellar at the premiere. “It’s faith-filled, life affirming, and also high-concept and realistic. I don’t watch a lot of dramas because I’m afraid of feeling sad, but this movie gives you the hope that you can find that kind of strength inside. It’s a beautiful film.”
Average Joe
As we recently announced, “Average Joe” begins streaming exclusively on Pure Flix January 23. The film tells the inspiring true story about Joe Kennedy, the high school football coach who fought for his right to express his religious beliefs publicly, leading to a landmark Supreme Court ruling.
Veteran actor Eric Close, who plays Kennedy in the film, was also inspired by the football coach’s resilience in the face of so many trials in his life. From growing up in foster care as a troubled youth and facing the horrors of war in the military, to being fired for praying and facing loss after loss in court, Close describes ‘Average Joe’ as a powerful “redemption story” that will appeal to believers and unbelievers alike.
County Rescue Season 2
“County Rescue,” an instant hit when it premiered on Pure Flix and on our sister channel, Great American Family, is a drama about the unique challenges EMTs and paramedics face on both their personal and professional journeys.
Season two brings back the familiar faces we see in season one: Julia Reilly, Riley Hough, Percy Bell, Kristin Wollett, Brett Varvel, Stacey Patino, Tim Ross, Keller Fornes, Angel Luis, and Curtia Torbert.
“‘County Rescue’ exemplifies our commitment to uplifting content that celebrates faith and family in an engaging way. The series highlights the heroism of EMTs and first responders, focusing on their character development and inspirational stories rather than solely on life-threatening incidents,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media.
“The exceptional talent of our cast, producers and directors are the driver of the show’s success, and they make it a pleasure to announce the renewal for a second season,” Abbott concluded.
As we look ahead to 2025, Pure Flix is dedicated to bringing you inspiring, faith-based content that you can enjoy with your entire family.
